It’s arguably the smallest STB stick mini PC chassis going around but the MK805-style build is getting another run here, these days called the A20 and combines Allwinner’s A20 dual-core Cortex A7 SoC CPU with the latest (for mini PCs) Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system.
Despite its diminutive size, the A20 is surprisingly well stocked with extras. The internal storage can be expanded via MicroSD card slot, good for cards up to 32GB.… Read more
Somehow we managed to miss this MK819 dual-core set-top-box style mini PC, despite thinking we’d already covered it. However, looking into it, we’ve found it selling on eBay for just $36.99, including shipping.
It’s a compact Apple TV style model with just a slightly higher profile. It’s powered by the first-generation Rockchip RK3066 dual-core Cortex A9 SoC CPU with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board flash, preloaded with Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system.… Read more
It’s not the easiest time to be a smartphone maker at the moment, but you’d think if any brand could get a decent model over the line with the latest Android operating system, it’d be Motorola. With that in mind, the company has launched the Motorola Moto X.
There’s a good list of inclusions here that should gain some attention, such as a 1.7GHz Qualcomm MSM8960Pro dual-core Snapdragon chip and a 4.7-inch panel with 720 x 1280-pixel resolution built from AMOLED screen tech.… Read more
Chinese mini PC maker Himedia has started churning out yet another model, this time called the Himedia Q11 Duo.
It’s an unusual design in that its powered by HiSilicon’s 3718 dual-core Cortex A9 SoC CPU (almost everything else comes with a Rockchip SoC these days), however it only includes 1GB of DDR3 RAM and just 4GB of on-board flash, preloaded with Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system.… Read more
Mini PC maker MeLE looks to be running out its interesting set-top box style mini PC called the Mele M8, which normally sells for $120, but for the next seven hours on Aliexpress, you can pick it up for $89.99.
MeLE looks to be the last seller moving this one so it’ll likely be a run-out model. But for that price, you’ll get an STB mini PC featuring Allwinner’s A31 quad-core Cortex A7 SoC CPU.… Read more
Mini PC brand Tronsmart has taken the aging MK808 chassis and installed a rotating external antenna onto it, launching it onto the market as the Tronsmart MK908II.
Like the original MK908, the MK908II features Rockchip’s RK3188 quad-core Cortex A9 SoC CPU, equipped with 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 8GB of on-board flash, preloaded with Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system. At this stage, we don’t know whether or not this kernel is built on the Rockchip SDK2.0, which delivers better and smoother performance from the CPU.… Read more
A new low-cost quad-core TV stick mini PC appears to have just hit the market – the new Ocean Star TRK306. Powered by Rockchip’s RK3188 quad-core Cortex A9 SoC CPU, the TRK306 sells on Aliexpress for $57, the cheapest price we’ve seen so far for a quad-core TV stick.
Apart from the RK3188 quad-core chip, it comes with 1GB of DDR3 RAM but only 4GB of on-board flash, preloaded with Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system.… Read more
Mini PC maker Ugoos has upped the ante when it comes to set-top box style chassis by incorporating an aluminium (aluminum for our northern hemisphere readers) casework in its new Ugoos UT1. It looks to be an identical design to the Kaiboer F4 with its hard-wired power switch and dual Wi-Fi antenna on the back.
The Ugoos UT1 runs Rockchip’s quad-core RK3188 Cortex A9 SoC CPU with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of flash, preloaded with Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system.… Read more
