EPICT EPP-100 mini PC includes PICO LED projector

Looking like a cross between a camera and a clock radio, the new EPICT EPP-100 takes the mini PC to new heights, incorporating the first PICO LED projector.

The compact unit features an Allwinner A20 dual-core Cortex A7 SoC CPU with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of flash storage, preloaded with Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system. It’s a pity this one couldn’t match the typical 1GB DDR3 RAM/8GB flash amounts in most mini PCs available these days.

The projector side features an 800×480-pixel DLP projector with 35 Lumens of light output, so while resellers are claiming you can get an image up to 80-inches in size, you’ll need a darkened room to get maximum results.

As for external options, the EPICT EPP-100 comes with a microSD card slot on the back, good for cards up to 32GB, plus there’s a USB2.0 host and microUSB OTG ports. Wireless connectivity is covered by 802.11b/g/n Wi-FI and Bluetooth is also supported, although there is no word on which standard is available. It also includes a basic tripod stand.

You can preorder the unit from Pandawill for $220 including shipping.

If you’re used to a standard projector with an high-brightness 150W lamp, the EPICT EPP-100 won’t be able to match it, but it’s certainly the most unusual mini PC we’ve seen so far.
