Motorola’s new DROID Maxx is similar to the DROID Mini in many respects, at least as far as performance is concerned with both featuring what we believe is the same Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. However, there is one big difference – and that’s the massive 3500mAh Lithium-ion battery that comes inside the DROID Maxx. While there are no official figures as yet, the DROID Maxx is quickly becoming known as the 48-hour-battery smartphone.
Apart from that 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core Krait SoC chip, there’s a 5.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen panel with 720 x 1280-pixel resolution, driven by an as-yet-unnamed Adreno GPU core. With 2GB of DDR3 RAM, the DROID Maxx will also include 16/32 GB of flash, preloaded with Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system, expandable by MicroSD card slot, which is good for cards up to 32GB.
Like the DROID Mini, Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP handles the lower-power wireless side of things and the full gamut of Wi-Fi standards are covered by its 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac support. The phone’s 2G network coverage includes the 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz bands and 3G is supported over 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100MHz.
The DROID Maxx has the same 10 MP autofocus image sensor with LED flash on the back and you get a basic 2 MP camera on the front. You can also capture video at up to 1080p@30fps.
The phone was announced in July 2013.
