The new Huawei Ascend P6 features a 4.7 inches touchscreen panel with 720 x 1280-pixel resolution and up to 2 GB of memory to keep things on the boil. It’s powered by Huawei/HiSilicon’s K3V2 quad-core SoC (system on a chip) CPU clocking in at up to 1.5GHz, while the panel has a 16-core Vivante GC4000 graphics engine to handle graphics-intensive apps and games.
There’s on-board storage through an 8GB cache of built-in flash memory, while external storage comes by way of MicroSD card slot, supporting up to 32GB per card. The Huawei Ascend P6 is preloaded with Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) and includes a 2000mAh Li-Po-type battery but unfortunately, no talk or standby times were available at time of publishing.
It has the basic Wi-Fi options of 802.11 b/g/n built-in and Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP covering personal communications. Coverage is handled over 2G through its 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz band support and 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 MHz bands for 3G networks.
An 8MP (3264×2448 pixels) with autofocus image sensor on the back delivers the device’s best photo quality and you get a surprisingly good 5MP option on the front for video-conferencing. The device also supports video recording up to 1080p@30fps.
The device’s weight tips the scales at 120 grams while its dimensions are 132.7 x 65.5 x 6.2 mm. The phone will be available in black and white from JB HiFi and Dick Smith stores from July 15 for $499.
