The new LG Optimus L4 II Dual E445 is an entry-level smartphone likely to be aimed at emerging markets, given its list of features, which includes MediaTek’s MT6575 single-core Cortex A9 SoC chip clocking at 1GHz and accompanied by 512MB of RAM. It’s roughly the same performance level you would’ve seen from a 2010-era phone such as the HTC Desire.
However, the L4 II comes as a 3.8-inch chassis with a 320 x 480-pixel resolution I-PS panel, driven by a PowerVR SGX531 graphics core inside the MT6575 SoC for apps and games.
You get on-board storage, taken care of by 4 GB of flash, but you also get external storage through microSD, up to 32 GB per card. It features Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system to run your apps but there’s no word on any update to Android 4.2.
The phone includes a 1700mAh Lithium-Ion-type battery but unfortunately, no talk or standby times were available at time of publishing.
Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP covers wireless personal communications and you also get the standard Wi-Fi options of 802.11 b/g/n on-board. Carrier network coverage is handled over 2G through its 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz band support and 900 / 2100 MHz bands for 3G networks.
You can capture still images via the 3.15 MP (2048×1536 pixels) camera with LED flash on the back but there’s no front-facing option. Its also capable of capturing video at up to VGA@30fps.
The LG Optimus L4 II Dual E445 lands on the scales with 125 grams and measures 112.8 x 64.7 x 11.9 mm. The unit was originally announced in June 2013 and is now selling in India for around Rs9,800 from various online retailers.
