The LG Optimus G Pro has finally landed in India with a reported price tag of Rs42,500. For your money, it delivers a decent list of features, including its big IPS Plus LCD capacitive touchscreen panel, measuring 5.5 inches and housing 1080×1920-pixel resolution.
It also comes with one of the fastest CPUs on the market in Qualcomm’s APQ8064T Snapdragon 600 SoC or ‘system on a chip’ with a clock speed of up to 1.7GHz. You also get the fast Adreno 320 graphics core driving that 5.5-inch panel.
On-board flash provides up to 16/32 GB worth of storage to play with, and there’s also microSD, to provide up to 64GB per card, above and beyond the phone’s built-in space. It runs Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) but there’s no word yet on when an Android 4.2.2 update is on the way.
Battery power comes courtesy of the phone’s large 3140mAh Li-Ion battery, good for a claimed 598 hours in standby and 31 hours talk time (and more than a few hours gaming).
In addition, low-power wireless is handled by Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP and 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac-standard Wi-Fi will connect you to your home or office network. Coverage is handled over 2G through its 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz band support and we believe 900 / 2100MHz bands for 3G networks, although you should check with your supplier before purchasing.
There’s a front-facing 2.1 MP camera but the device’s best quality photos are captured by the main 13 MP (4208 x 3120 pixels) with autofocus image sensor on the back. The device is also capable of capturing video at up to 1080p@30fps.
The LG Optimus G Pro measures 150.2 x 76.1 x 9.4 mm and has a comfortable weight at 172 grams. The phone was announced first in February 2013.
