Inside, you’ll find a decent mix of options for the price, including Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 MSM8225 dual-core SoC CPU ticking over with a clock speed of up to 1GHz, while gaming gets a run on the 4.0-inch panel thanks to the unit’s Adreno 203 graphics core.
You’ll see 4 GB of on-board flash for built-in storage, while microSD, up to 32 GB, delivers external storage to the device for more and larger files. It runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) inside and for power, talk time is up to 9 hours and it will last 310 hours in standby mode, thanks to its 3.7V/1500mAh Lithium-Ion battery.
Wi-Fi options are good with 802.11 b/g/n included and if you need personal communications, the device comes with Bluetooth v2.0. Multi-network support over 2G is handled through the device’s 900 / 1800MHz band coverage while for 3G networks, the only band covered is 2100 MHz.
A 5MP (2592×1944 pixels) image sensor with LED flash on the back delivers the phone’s best photo quality and you get a secondary VGA option on the front for video-conferencing.
The Xolo A500 measures 124 x 63.5 x 11.8 mm, however its weight has not been disclosed. The device was announced first in January 2013.
The Xolo A500 is a fairly basic phone by today’s standards but at least it does give you dual-core CPU performance, thanks to its very good Snapdragon S4 processor, which certainly helps.
You’ll find it selling for around Rs5,900.
