There’s a good deal to like about the Huawei Ascend P2, with a list of features that should get it onto most ‘must-see’ lists, including a quick quad-core Huawei K3V2 Cortex A7 processor that powers through the phone’s major functionality, clocking along at up to 1.5GHz with a decent cache of 1 GB of RAM.
Further, it comes with a 720 x 1280-pixel resolution panel built from IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen technology, measuring 4.7 inches. The panel is also driven by the Vivante GC4000 graphics core inside the Huawei K3V2 chip.
There’s on-board storage through a 16 GB cache of built-in flash memory but there’s no external storage options available. Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) is the operating system, but there’s no word on a possible upgrade to 4.2. Battery power is provided by the 2420mAh Li-Ion-type battery but unfortunately, no talk times were available at time of publishing. Its rated for up to 310 hours standby.
If you need low-power personal wireless, Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP has that covered and Wi-Fi is included in the form of 802.11 b/g/n-standard options. There’s basic 2G coverage on networks supporting the 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz bands while 3G is covered by 900 / 2100 MHz bands.
The device delivers high-quality photos, thanks to its 13 MP (4032 x 3224 pixels) with autofocus image sensor on the back and you get a simpler 1.3 MP camera on the front. The device is also capable of capturing video at up to 1080p@30fps.
The device’s weight tips the scales at 122 grams while its dimensions are 136.2 x 66.7 x 8.4 mm. The unit was originally announced in February 2013.
