News from Huawei is its next smartphone is making its way to store shelves, another to claim the title of world’s thinnest smartphone. Inside the Huawei Ascend P6, you’ll find a decent mix of options, such as a Huawei K3V2 SoC chip delivering up to 1.5GHz of processing horsepower and an excellent cache of 2 GB of RAM.
Further, it comes with a 4.7-inch capacitive-touchscreen display with 720 x 1280-pixel resolution.
The K3V2 is a quad-core Cortex A9 design, manufactured at 40-nanometres and features a 16-core Vivante GC4000 graphics engine, which should deliver some decent gaming speed on that 4.7-inch panel.
You get on-board storage, taken care of by 8 GB of flash, which can be expanded up to another 32GB through the MicroSD card slot. That internal storage is loaded with Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) straight off the bat. As for power, the phone includes a 2000mAh Li-Po-type battery but unfortunately, no talk or standby times were available at time of publishing.
Wireless connectivity is covered adequately through its 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi standards support and low-power wireless is handled by Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP. There’s basic 2G coverage on networks supporting the 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz bands, while 3G is covered by its five-band 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100MHz support.
The main image sensor on the back is a 8 MP (3264×2448 pixels) with autofocus type, while you get a more basic 5 MP unit on the front for video calls. You can also capture video with the device at up to 1080p@30fps.
The Huawei Ascend P6 measures 132.7 x 65.5mm and is just 6.2 mm thick, with a comfortable weight at 120 grams. The announcement date for this unit was back in June 2013.
