The Nokia Lumia 520 is a more compact basic version of the larger Lumia 720, but still retains the same performance, thanks to its 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8227 chip delivering the major horsepower and up to 512 MB of memory to keep things on the boil.
Further, it comes with a IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen panel with 480 x 800 pixels resolution within its 4.0-inch frame. Also, its 4.0-inch panel is powered by the Adreno 305 core along side the Qualcomm MSM8227 chip.
Internal storage is delivered through 8 GB of on-board flash while microSD, up to 64 GB, delivers external storage to the device for more and larger files. Its internally run by Microsoft Windows Phone 8, but again, we’re impressed it can do so with just 512MB of memory on-board. As for power, its on-board 1430mAh Li-Ion battery isn’t big by today’s standards but it will still deliver 360 hours in standby and 14 hours talk time.
There are plenty of Wi-Fi options available with 802.11 a/b/g/n on-board and Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP handles the lower-power wireless side of things. Coverage is handled over 2G through its 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz band support but only 900 / 2100MHz bands for 3G networks.
There’s no front-facing camera but photos are captured by the main 5 MP (2592×1936 pixels) with autofocus image sensor on the back. You can also capture video with the device at up to 720p@30fps.
The Nokia Lumia 520 measures 119.9 x 64 x 9.9 mm and has a comfortable weight at 124 grams. The product was announced back in February 2013.
