The phone has amongst its features a 4.55-inch panel with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution built from TFT capacitive touchscreen screen tech and 2 GB of memory to run your apps.
Other major features include a quick Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 processor that powers through the phone’s major functionality, clocking along at up to 1.5GHz, while an Adreno 320 core keeps the display panel busy, supporting apps and games.
There’s on-board storage through a 8 GB cache of built-in flash memory while microSD, up to 32 GB, will deliver external space to load in whatever you want. Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) is the operating system behind the device keeping it going. And for power, talk time is up to 11 hours and it will last 470 hours in standby mode, thanks to its 2300mAh Li-ion battery.
If you need personal communications, the device comes with Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP and 802.11 a/b/g/n-standard Wi-Fi will connect you to your home or office network. Multi-network support over 2G is handled through the device’s 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz band coverage while for 3G networks, the bands covered are 850 / 900 / 2100MHz.
There’s a front-facing VGA camera but the device’s best quality photos are captured by the main 13.1 MP (4128×3096 pixels) with autofocus image sensor on the back. The device also supports video recording up to 1080p@30fps.
The most interesting feature is the phone is IP58 certified, giving waterproofing up to one metre depth for up to 30 minutes.
The Sony Xperia ZR weights in at 138 grams and has external dimensions of 131.3 x 67.3 x 10.5 mm. The device was announced first in May 2013 and is now available on pre-order from retailers such as Flipkart and infibeam.
