New CUBE U35GT2 8-inch quad-core tablet arrives with I-PS screen

There’s more news from CUBE as its next device comes off the production cycle. The CUBE U35GT2 has a good list of extras under the bonnet, including the everywhere Rockchip RK3188 quad-core processor powering on with a 1.6GHz CPU clock rate and up to 1GB of RAM on-board.

Further, it comes with a 1024×768 resolution panel built from I-PS technology, measuring 7.9 inches (very similar to the Apple iPad mini). Also, the 7.9-inch panel is powered by the ARM Mali-400 MP4 core inside the RK3188 chip.

You get on-board storage, taken care of by 16GB of flash while external storage for larger files is provided by MicroSD, up to 32GB. Android 4.1 is the operating system behind the device keeping it going. In terms of wireless, Bluetooth 3.0 handles the lower-power wireless side of things and there are plenty of Wi-Fi options available with 802.11b/g/n on-board. It comes with a decent battery too – a 4000mAh-capacity Lithium-ion model.

You can capture still images via the 5MP camera on the back of the device or simply use the front-facing 2MP camera for personal shots.

The CUBE U35GT2 measures 202.2 x 135.6 x 6mm and has a comfortable weight at 360g. The announcement date for this unit was back in June 2013.

It’s available online from retailers at up to $US175, which does seem a little pricey compared with other similar tablets that sell for notably less.
