Specifications – Nokia Asha 501 smartphone

asha501Inside the Nokia Asha 501, you’ll find a basic mix of options, such as a 240 x 320 pixels resolution panel built from TFT capacitive touchscreen tech, measuring 3.0 inches and 64 MB of memory to work with.

At this stage, Nokia hasn’t said what processor is running inside and rumours are that whatever it is, it’s clocked at 1GHz.

A 128MB cache of internal flash handles on-board storage while you can use microSD, up to 32 GB (a 4 GB card is included), to provide extra storage for the device. You’ll find Nokia’s Asha software platform 1.0 lurking inside to run on the device. And for power, you’ll get 624 hours standby and 17 hours talk time from the available 1200mAh Li-Ion-type battery.

Next, wide area network connectivity comes in the form of 802.11 b/g-standard Wi-Fi and if you need low-power personal wireless, Bluetooth v3.0 with EDR has that covered. Coverage is handled over 2G through its 900 / 1800MHz band support and there is no support for 3G networks.

The device delivers photos, thanks to its 3.15 MP (2048×1536 pixels) image sensor on the back, but there is no front-facing camera or video recording.

The device’s weight tips the scales at just 98.2 grams while its dimensions are 99.2 x 58 x 12.1 mm. Nokia announced this new model back in May 2013.

It’ll be sold into emerging markets such as India with a price expected to be the equivalent of $US99.
