Inside, there’s a LED-backlit IPS LCD panel with 640 x 1136 pixels resolution within its 4.0-inch frame, also its 4.0-inch panel is powered by the PowerVR SGX 543MP3 (triple-core graphics) core along side the Apple A6 chip.
You get on-board storage, taken care of by 16/32/64 GB of flash but there’s no external storage options available. There’s iOS 6, upgradable to iOS 6.1.4, and soon to be iOS 7.0 inside to keep the CPU interested with the latest apps. And for power, standby can deliver up to 225 hours and 8 hours’ talk time with its 1440mAh Lithium-polymer (non-removable)-type battery.
Getting external devices connected to the unit is simple – your big-screen TV will get a work-out, thanks to its Lightning port, which can provide HDMI connectivity via the Apple adapter. Next, there’s Wi-Fi in the form of 802.11 a/b/g/n available inside and Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP handles the lower-power wireless side of things. Coverage is handled over 2G through its 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz band support and 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100MHz bands for 3G networks.
You can capture still images via the 8 MP (3264×2448 pixels) with autofocus camera on the back of the device or simply use the front-facing 1.2 MP camera for personal shots. The device is also capable of capturing video at up to 1080p@30fps.
The Apple iPhone 5 weights in at 112 grams and has external dimensions of 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 mm. Apple announced this new model back in September 2012.
