Specifications – Panasonic P51 smartphone

A new device has just rolled off the production line from Panasonic. With a real warbird ring to it, the Panasonic P51 comes with a list of features, including a memory cache of 1 GB and a Intel Atom Z2560 SoC (system on a chip) CPU clocking in at 1.2GHz.

Inside, you get a IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen panel, measuring 5.0 inches and housing 720 x 1280 pixels resolution, also gaming on that 5.0-inch display is powered by an as-yet-unknown graphics core.

You get on-board storage, taken care of by 4 GB of flash while you’ve got plenty of external storage, thanks to microSD, up to 32 GB to store more files. Its internally run by Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) to maximise performance. And for power, the device includes a 2500mAh Li-Ion-type battery but unfortunately, no talk or standby times were available at time of publishing.

In addition, if you need personal communications, the device comes with Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP and you can use any of the 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi standards available on-board. There’s basic 2G coverage on networks supporting the 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz bands while 3G is covered by 900 / 2100 MHz bands.

An 8 MP (3264×2448 pixels) with autofocus image sensor on the back delivers the device’s best photo quality and you get a secondary 1.3 MP option on the front for video-conferencing. The device is also capable of capturing video at up to 1080p@30fps.

The Panasonic P51 lands on the scales with 135 grams and measures 144 x 75 x 8.5 mm. The unit was originally announced in May 2013.

Let’s hope it takes some of the legendary toughness from its name-sake fighter plane.
