The RK3188 was announced in early 2013 as a lower-power updated version of the RK3066, Rockchip’s first quad-core CPU built on a 40nm process and clocking up to 1.6GHz in selected devices. While the RK3066 was used in many devices, it’s quad-core Mali400 GPU was only clocked at 250MHz. This should see the RK3188 offer near on double the gaming performance thanks to its more-than-double clock speed. The small 28-nanometre production process should also see the chip either match or improve upon the heat production of the RK3066.
